My new creedo

Or maybe my new motto, ripped off from the gun blogger community:

"Camera: better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have one."

I speak from personal experience. There have been times where I missed an awesome shot because I left my camera at home. Other times I carry it around and nothing happens. Every news photographer worth their salt knows this and practices this creedo/motto - so should I.

That is all.

The Day of the Dead

Tonight should be an interesting night, with the nation focused on congressional and gubernatorial races in most states. This is the night newspapers live for (I think I said that already, right?)

From where I'll be tonight, I won't hear a lot of commentary (thank the Lord!) but I will probably hear complaints from fellow journalists for at least a couple more days.

But as much of a hassle reporting on election day can be, it's still an exciting time and voting is still one of the simplest rights Americans have. I won't say that if you don't vote, you can't complain. But you should feel very very bad about not voting before you DO complain.
